Impact of Holtby signing with Canucks

-- Braden Holtby signed a two-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks on Friday. Holtby should be viewed as a top 10 fantasy goalie option again with renewed upside for the Canucks, a trendy fantasy team with a high ceiling in the seasons ahead.

Holtby, 31, is expected to get the majority of the starts this season but could split time with Thatcher Demko, who looked like a future starter in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Holtby and Demko, who turns 25 on Dec. 8, are worth targeting as a duo in standard 12-team fantasy leagues, especially after Jacob Markstrom signed with the Calgary Flames.

Standard goalie categories include wins, goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts. Value has been quantified based on factors including but not limited to past production in regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs, team goalie situations, anticipated start volume, projected goal support (or lack thereof), injury history or concern (INJ. - players who could miss the start of this season), sleeper, bounce-back or breakout potential, anticipated regression, age, contract status (2020 unrestricted free agents: *; restricted: **) and overall upside for the 2020-21 season. These rankings are a collaborative effort by Pete Jensen, Rob Reese and David Satriano.
